Start training for the 10k

WITH just over seven weeks to go, why not start training now to take part in the Cumbernauld 10k planned for September.

With the help of North Lanarkshire Leisure new groups are being set up in Cumbernauld for beginners to take their first steps and for the more experienced runners who want to train with others for this 10k event.

Check out the jogging classes starting on July 25 at Cumbernauld High School run by North Lanarkshire Leisure, in partnership with jogscotland.

Many people are put-off this most simple form of exercise because they feel foolish, vulnerable or are just plain bored jogging on their own, however within the support of a group the activity takes on a whole new complexion of enjoyment and achievement. This adult jogging programme provides great motivation and can simultaneously help weight loss, stress relief and promote muscle tone whilst being a simple, fun, effective and social form of exercise.

Total newcomers or lapsed joggers, young and older alike will be welcomed to the scheme organised by North Lanarkshire Leisure, whose staff will be on hand to assist, support and advise.

Anyone still not convinced but wanting to find out more should come along to an informal information roadshow being held on Wednesday, July 20, between 6.30pm and 8pm at Broadwood Leisure Centre. Open to anyone, those interested can call in to find out more.
