Scottish hockey’s under 21 side needed to defeat England on Saturday to remain in Europe’s top flight.

However, the side, which features Clydesdale youngsters Peter Baldwin, Aidan Black, and Scott Lindsay, lost 5-0 to the auld enemy in the European nations championships in Den Bosch.

Scotland were sent to the relegation pool after a 4-2 loss to Spain and a 7-1 mauling by Belgium, however, they were handed a survival lifeline with a 3-0 win against Wales.

Meanwhile, the trio will be back in action for Clydesdale tonight when they host Loughbourgh students at 7pm.

In the Peregrines Cup Western Wildcats clawed their way to a 8-1 win over a youthful Giffnock, with, two goals each for Alex Stuart, sisters Kate and Alice McArthur, while Kirsty Howe and Rachael Fergussen picked up the other two. Cath 
Stirling got the consolation for Giffnock.

Milne Craig Western struggled to to a 2-1 win over CALA 
Edinburgh.

Jenny Eadie put the Glasgow side a goal up at the interval, CALA equalised, but Eadie netted the winner with two minutes remaining after a penalty corner routine that broke down.
