Success is peachy for Carluke footballer Ryan Lawrie

THE outstanding efforts of a Carluke footballer nicknamed Peachy have borne fruit in spectacular style.

Goalkeeper Ryan Lawrie (15), of Sraehouse Wynd, has been named Mill United Colts Player of the Year and Supporters Player of the Year after an outstanding season between the sticks for the Hamilton club.

“Ryan has had the Peachy nickname since he was a young lad playing at Milton Rovers,” his dad Kris told Gazette Sport.

“It was in reference to the fact that, every time he made a save, someone in the crowd would say: ‘That save was an absolute peach’.

“Ryan has been brilliant for Mill United in each of the last two campaigns. He won the treble in his first season and – despite the fact that the team never won anything this season – Ryan played just as well.
