She was there to help staff raise money for Sport Relief, a cause dear to her heart - and to play her own characteristically energetic part in the bid to raise millions of pounds in ways guaranteed to change peoples’ lives for the better.

During her trip press speculation turned to whether she could be a contender in the big event of the summer in Glasgow.

She certainly wouldn’t be the first paralympian to cross over into the able-bodied stream, and if it doesn’t happen this year it could be an option in 2015 or beyond.

Cumbernauld fundraisers were keen to learn what’s like to achieve paralympian sporting glory in a massive national arena: “Like a huge warm hug - it’s the best feeling in the world,” she said.
