Teen Meggan meets her sporting idol

After spending an hour with her Olympian idol, Meggan travelled south to be a Paralympic torch bearer in Hackney.

She was part of the five strong team who carried the flame for 300meters in Hackney at precisely, just two hours before the much anticipated opening of the 2012 Paralympics.

Meggan was so excited to meet Steve Cram who is a World, Olympic, European and Commonwealth medalist, as well as three-time World Record holder during his illustrious athletic career.

He was also recognised for his achievements by winning the BBC Sports Personality of the year in 1983, and receiving his MBE in 1986.

No stranger to sporting achievement, Meggan entered the London Wheelchair Marathon for the first time this year and gained astonishing results; she came 9th overall, was the 2nd Brit to cross the finish line breaking the Scottish record.

She was just 2½ minutes short of qualifying for the 2012 Paralympics!

Her sporting opportunities were all made possible by the Scottish Spina Bifida Association based in Cumbernauld who paid for her to attend a special sports camp, where she was able to try different sports.
