The long wait is over

The game was postponed on January 25 because of weather, then, last Saturday, a further postponement took place because of circumstances related to the Scotland v. England game at 
Murrayfield.

Now, Cartha coach Gary Grant is struggling to put his best team together at the third time of asking.

He told ExtraSport: “It’s hard to keep making guys change their plans.

“We will go into this game without four or five keys guys.

“People changed their plans last week, it’s horrendous trying to get a squad together each week with no guarantee the game will be on.”

However, the coach of the side, which are currently top of Championship A, admits things could be worse.

He continued: “We have 80 players training each week. Because of our league position we have managed to maintain momentum.

“it’s coming down to the nitty-gritty now, we need to deliver on the pitch.

“Falkirk have a good team with strength in depth and a lot of high quality players, we just have to put what we have been training into practice.”

Last year, QP lost the league to local rivals GHA on the last day of the season. However, this year, the southsiders are in charge of their own destiny.

“We are a totally different team from last year”, Gary continued.

“It’s difficult building a new team but somehow we managed it. While we are not as experienced as last year, we are in a better position which is testament to the players and their commitment.”

Saturday’s game at Dumbreck, which kicks off at 3pm, will also be shown live in the clubhouse.

Also in Championship A, Whitecraigs head to Ayrshire to take on Ardrossan.

The fixture is also rescheduled from January 25.

Ardrossan, who are currently in sixth place, lie ten points behind Whitecraigs.

The southside derby between Cartha and GHA will take place on March 1.

GHA, who last played two weeks ago in a 31-12 loss to Kelso, are out of actions till they host Watsonians on March 1.

Prop Scott Gallacher has been released from hospital after undergoing scans.

A club spokesman said: “Scott suffered some bad swelling in the neck area which was inhibiting movement on his left hand side .

“Thankfully there is no long term issue and he will make a full recovery.”
