Tryst Judo Club’s Amy picks up black belt

A YOUNG Cumbernauld martial arts student has gained here black belt – at the age of eight!

Tryst Judo Club’s Amy Murphy recently achieved her junior under eight years grade Kai black belt.

Amy has attended judo since she was five years old and progressed through the grading system to achieve her black belt.

She had to demostrate a number of judo throw techniques and ground holds.

Amy is the first female to achieve this grade and the club look forward to her achieving further success at junior and senior level.

Other members of the club are pictured to the rear. Beginers will be made welcome at Saturday and Tuesday sessions.

The club trains at the following times: Tryst Sports Centre, Tuesday, 5-5.45 p.m. for under eights and 5.45-7 p.m. for eight to 16 years; Tryst Sport Centre, Friday, 5-6.30 p.m., advanced juniors; Link Community Centre, Saturday, 9.30 a.m.-12 noon, juniors.

Club coaches are Sandy, Mike and Victoria.
