Wee need to get tougher, says coach

BULLY Wee boss Stuart Millar says his team have to learn to cope better with the physical side of third division football.

The coach has seen his side lose two homes games against Berwick Rangers and Albion Rovers and admits his side must toughen up if they are to fight for promotion.

He said: "Losing those games was disappointing but there's no way they reflect the performances. We're a bit soft just now. When it comes to playing proper football I don't think anyone can compete with us. But we need to deal with the physical aspect of it as well.

"At times this season we've not been physically strong enough which means we haven't adapted yet. Teams that allow us to play our football, we do very well against, it's about getting the right balance."

Millar says his past success at this level of football will help his players to adjust their style to suit.

He continued: "I know what it takes to be successful in the third division from my time as assistant at Stranraer - it's a battle every game. Sometimes football goes out the window and you need to learn to fight for the ball.

"But this is a young group and some of the younger players have only played about seven senior matches in their life. And then you look at how long they've been together and only two players were at the club before January.

"You move on quickly in football and we'll go into the East Stirling game confident that we can get a result. They're a good team, a playoff team last year, but we believe we can take three points."
