Windfarm £3400 windfall for Biggar Snooker Club

WITH membership numbers dwindling to just 15 hardy souls and its three club tables in dire need of an upgrade, the future for Biggar Snooker Club wasn’t exactly looking rosy.

But that all changed thanks to a £3400 grant from the Clyde Windfarm Community Fund, which will pay for new table cloths, pockets and cushions and carpeting at the club base in Howiesons Square.

“The cloths on our three tables are badly worn as they’ve not been replaced in five years,” said club treasurer Robert Muir (74).

“There is also a rip on one of the cloths. For a while we just didn’t have the money to upgrade such things, but this grant has changed all that.”
