PREVIEW: Christmas Festival shows celebrating iconic hits at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall


Greatest show-stopping tunes are on the bill this season as promoter Raymond Gubbay’s Christmas Festival returns with four top shows at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall..
Festive classics, blockbuster scores, big band hits and the some of the world greatest show tunes are on the playlist with something for everyone to enjoy at a magical time of the year.
First up – a festive cracker of a festive show featuring music, dance, lights and spectacle – is Christmas Spectacular, on Monday, December 20, 7.30pm.
Glasgow Royal Concert Hall will spring to life with high kicks, festive fun and special effects plus all the trimmings in the company of glittering West End vocalists, a full orchestra and our all-star Jingle Belle dancers.Join in with toe-tapping tunes and sing along to seasonal songs including The Twelve Days of Christmas, Jingle Bell Rock, Step into Christmas, Sleigh Ride, Merry Christmas Everyone, Frosty the Snowman, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Winter Wonderland, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year nd more.

The Music of Zimmer vs Williams arrives at Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow on Tuesday, December 28, 7.30pm.
An epic concert celebrating the very best scores from two of the greatest film composers of all time, movie lovers will get to hear work from Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Inception, Indiana Jones, Gladiator, Man of Steel, Harry Potter, The Dark Knight Rises, Superman and ET.


It features the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, conducted by Michael Bawtree.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra plays Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow on Wednesday, December 29, 3pm.
The UK’s most renowned big band is excited to return, swinging you back in time, playing Glenn Miller’s own arrangements of favourite wartime chart-toppers and hits from the forties, directed by legendary band leader Ray McVay.


Expect to hear all the hits including Opus One, Memories of You, Sing Sing Sing, Sunrise Serenade, Stardust, Moonlight Cocktails, Johnson Rag, Caribbean Clipper, In the Mood, Little Brown Jug, Moonlight Serenade, String of Pearls and Chattanooga Choo Choo.
The orchestra will perform the second half of the concert in the World War II uniforms of the US army Air Force.

The Greatest Show Tunes features West End stars performing some of the greatest hits of the West End, Broadway and movie musicals, plays Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Thursday, December 30 at 7.30pm.
It includes songs from The Greatest Showman, Mamma Mia, Grease, West Side Story, We Will Rock You, Chicago, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jersey Boys, Cats, La La Land, Dreamgirls and more, it promises to be an unmissable show for musical lovers..
Performing songs live on stage will be a star cast direct from the West End - Ben Forster, Danielle Hope, John Owen-Jones and Karen Mav - along with the Scottish Concert Voices choir and Scottish Concert Orchestra, conducted by Richard Balcombe.
