Timeless masterpiece The Browning Version by Terrence Rattigan takes to the stage on March 5, following the success of last month’s offering The Twelve Pound Look.
The one-act bite-size lunchtime classic plays are presented by Rapture, one of Scotland’s leading theatre companies.
The Browning Version features a seven-strong cast including Rapture favourites Robin Kingsland and Paul Albertson.
Starring alongside them will be actors Pandora Clifford, Michael Mackenzie, Dylan Blore, Steven Scott-Fitzgerald and Natalie Clark.
Anthony McReavy from East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure said: “The Eastwood Park Theatre audience really enjoyed our first lunchtime theatre offering, which is hugely successful in the west end and beyond.
We’re pleased it’s proving so successful in our local community too.
“The Browning Version features a stellar cast of seven performers and we have our final lunchtime theatre instalment, Harold Pinter’s A Kind of Alaska, at the end of the month too, which will round off our first lunchtime theatre shows this season.”
The Browning Version is set after the Second World War, in a boys’ public school, on the eve of Greek Classics teacher Andrew Crocker Harris’ retirement. The story centres around love, regret and the human capacity for change.
Rapture’s director, Michael Emans, said: “My first acting role as a young teenage actor was ‘Taplow’ in a Lunchtime Theatre production of The Browning Version, which performed at my local venue in East Kilbride. It is a play that stayed with me and one that I am excited about revisiting as I am now close to the age of the hero of the piece: Andrew Crocker Harris.
“Rattigan writes beautifully about the human heart and I am always moved every time I read the play. When creating Rapture Bites: Lunchtime Theatre Season the inclusion of this wonderful play was a no-brainer. I hope audiences will feel as I do about this wonderful piece of writing.”
Theatre goers will have a lunch included in the ticket price, which is just £9 per performance.
