A glam new year

Fireworks are all well and good — but do you ever feel that Hogmanay lacks that sparkle?

Then look no further than the 02 Academy this new year, as the annual Club Noir Hogmanay gets underway promising glitz, glam and just a hint of sauciness.

The world’s biggest burlesque club sees thousands of revellers dress to kill and down a cocktail or two every three months, but the new year’s eve show is perhaps the biggest and best, with vintage styles, stripteases and a dancefloor ready and willing until 3am.

This year’s glamour spectacular promises a ceilidh band, proving the old adage that the Scots know how to welcome in the new year like no one else.

DJs Loveless and David Stone are playing vintage meets modern music throughout the Too Darn Hot club night portion, and there’s the usual chill-out room for when it all gets a bit too much.

But the star attraction of Club Noir whatever the time of year is the acts, and the hogmanay night is no exception, with two lavish shows packed full of performers.

Expect Russian Cossack dancers, Ida Barr of La Clique fame, an Aerial act and even Michelle McManus singing a little bump and grind.

On top of all that, Club Noir regulars Luke Amour, Debay Delux, Oliver Twisted, Chelsea Dagger and Twinset & Twirls take to the stage with seasonal shows from Tartan dominatrix to a ukelele-themed strip.

No less is expected of the audience, and the dress code is anything goes (except jeans and trainers) so get the glad rags out and look sharp.

Club Noir runs 9pm until 3am and tickets are £24.50, available from 08444772000 or www.clubnoir.co.uk.
