Beautiful Blackwood

There are many fine properties in Blackwood which are arguably ideal as first family homes – but surely few quite as compelling as seller Mr Alan Paterson’s magnificent pied-a-terre in Priory Place.

He is fairly modest about the amount of work he’s devoted to the internal fabric of the place that has been his home for the past 20 years, but – even allowing for the fact everyone has his or her own idea about decor – it’s a spacious, delightful environment many potential buyers probably wouldn’t want to change one iota.

What sort of area is it? “It’s ideal,” says Mr Paterson, with real conviction. “I’m in a quiet cul-de-sac, in what’s an excellent, family-friendly area, and really you couldn’t wish for nicer people to have round about you.

“I’m downsizing now, because I don’t need all the space I’ve got here, but I think for families in particular one attraction of this property could be the size of the rooms – on the one hand it is compact enough to manage, but on the other there’s plenty of room.

“I particularly like what could be a dining room for some people but which I use basically as a place to relax and watch the golf, or whatever, on TV.”

He adds: “The garden is fairly substantial too, and its facing means it’s a real sun trap in summer – and again there’s plenty of space for a family to enjoy their own outdoor area.”

At the same time the garden, in excellent order like everything else at this property, is all grass where it isn’t paved, and doesn’t present any kind of chore to the sort of person who doesn’t want to get involved in serious gardening, flower beds and labour-intensive maintenance.

Conversely anyone who is a keen gardener has a “blank slate” on which to create their perfect garden from scratch.

The specification for the property correctly describes it as a well-presented, larger style three bedroom detached villa, and flags up key features such as the bright and spacious lounge with its large bay window, the solid oak hardwood floor, complemented by the solid ash hardwood floor in the dining room.

Patio doors leading to the rear garden also add to a warm and almost continental feel to this rather classic property, while the three bedrooms, one with master ensuite family bathroom, are completely in synch with the stamp of space and quality you’ll find in every area of the building.

The home looks great in the photographs of the individual rooms, and other areas, but really needs to be seen first hand to be properly appreciated.

An early visit is highly recommended.
