Big finish ahead for the Southside Fringe

Have you found your way onto the Fringe yet?

The third annual Southside Fringe closes this weekend — but not without the customary big bang finale.

There’s plenty going in Shawlands yet, from the now regular show for dogs taking place at The Bungo on Saturday to gigs, cabaret sets, street theatre and just about anything else you can think of from creative types this side of the Clyde.

Co-founder Crawford Smith believes 2015 to be “the biggest and most successful Fringe festival yet”.

He told The Extra: “We’re totally blown away by all the media attention, and of course massively thankful to all the volunteers and Fringe team who have helped to make it happen.

“The venues have been busy, lots of ticketed events have sold out and plans are already coming together for 2016 — but for now, it’s time to charge on through the last days of festival fun to our climax on Sunday.”

The big event takes place at new Fringe HQ Govanhill Baths this year, but there’s still the same array of acts, barbecue courtesy of MyBiltong and — of course — the obligatory fire show.

Crawford added: “We’ll have live entertainment on throughot the day until 1am, a free bite to eat, world foods via some of the cooking classes at the Baths, top class DJs and a few surprises - plus the usual madness of the Fringe Finale.”

Tickets for the Fringe finale are £10 — to find out more, visit the Southside Fringe website.
