Busby girls raise cash for charity

A group of schoolchildren from Busby have surpassed previous fund raising goals and have managed to donate £900 to charity as a result.

The six girls, Caitlin Anderson, 13, from St Ninians High School, Rebecca Anderson, 11 Ava Wallace, 11, and Isla Wallace, 9 all from St Josephs’s Primary, Eve Greenhalgh, 13, from Williamwood High School and Ella Greenhalgh,11, from Busby Primary have been running fetes since 2013.

This years charity day took place on July 22 in The Paddock and despite the pouring rain, they managed to raise even more than last year!

The girls came up with the name “Children for Children Charity Fete” and also ran the tagline “helping turn grey skies blue again” they promoted their event by making their own posters and leaflets which they distributed locally and also with the help of parents created an event on social media to help spread the word.

Local residents and friends also helped spread the word and donations of items for the stalls soon came pouring in.
