Carnwath Agricultural Show 2014 Slideshow

Around 100 dogs leapt through props including tunnels and seesaws, much to the delight of an audience who enjoyed a fantastic day.

The highlight was the judging of 200 top class sheep, 80 cattle, Clydesdale horses and poultry.

Show secretary Caroline Currie said: “The dog show was really good; it was great to see such a good entry and so many spectators watching.

“It was one of our main attractions and definitely kept the spectators happy.”

And the same could be said for the show’s overall display of animals, including the limousin bull of Carstairs man Alan Campbell which was overall show champion.

“The standard of the animals was very good and the winning bull was very impressive,” Caroline said.

“The judges were clearly taken by its character, size, strength and overall appearance. Alan has just started showing animals and he was delighted to win.”

On what was a wonderful day of family entertainment at the Showfield, a bouncy castle, craft tents and performances by the band Peacock Waters also went down a storm with families.

There were also fine entries in the poultry and Clydesdale horse categories. Speed sheep shearing and a disco rounded things off in fine style.
