Clutha gigs cover city

GLASGOW wouldn’t be Glasgow if it stood by and allowed the victims and their families of the Clutha bar tragey to suffer alone.

No, this wonderful city has shown its determination to stand shoulder to shoulder with those that suffered as a result of the helicopter crash which took the lives of 10 people.

As a result, there are benefit gigs taking part across the city to help raise money for the victims — including those left behind.

All those taking part have given their time free of charge.

The Clutha Weekend kicks off over at the westend in Byres Road’s Faktory at 5pm with a tribute to David Bowie headlining.

Also appearing will be a tribute to the Jam and Dirty Diamond and the Gunslinger plus a DJ set until 3am. Entry is £8.

Down at the southside’s Springfield Quay, the Alea Casino is also using some tribute acts to help raise cash with Them Beatles, Spiders From Mars and James Frew as Rod Stewart.

The night begins at 7pm and will cost £10 for entry.

For the meagre sum of £6 or £8, you can help out by
heading along tomorrow night to the Classic Grand where you will be entertained by the likes of Backwater,
Soul Remover and the
Puzzlers.

The Clutha benefit continues at the Classic Grand on Saturday when Logan, Maiden Scotland, Non Jovi and H Aye Voltage take the stage.

Down at Jumpin Jaks (don’t blame me for the appalling punctuation) it’s back to tributes for the victims.

Over three nights, beginning on Friday, you can watch Tom Jones, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Take That.

Entry is £5 for each night and it begins at 7pm.

Pivo Pivo has two Clutha nights with live acts.

The Little Illusions, The Responsible and The Black Cart River Folk performing on Friday night and The Beat Movement, Jamie Reilly, OLR and Gerry Cinnamon on Saturday.

Friday night’s activities begin at 7pm. However, if you have the stamina, Saturday’s excitement kicks of at 1pm and goes on to 11pm.

Entry for both days is £3.
