Consider yourself at home at Eastwood Park

‘Please sir, can we have some more?’ seems to have worked for the kids of EROS Musical Society.

The Clarkston-based am dram group is back at Eastwood Park Theatre — and there’s a youthful glow to the latest production.

Although mainly an adult dramatics club, small numbers of children have been involved over the years — and now, they’ll have the chance to shine, as EROS presents Oliver!

The much-loved musical follows orphaned Oliver from the workhouse to the mean streets of Victorian London, where you’ve got to pick a pocket or two if you want to make your way in the world.

There are 40 youngters from all over East Renfrewshire involved in the show (aged nine and up), some having honed their acting skills in the company’s recent pantomime, Cinderella.

Heading up the cast are not one but two Olivers, as the lead role is played by both Woodfarm Secondary pupil Euan Simcox (12) and Belmont House student Simon Fraser (10).

EROS member Laura Wilson told The Extra: “All of the children are exceptionally talented and have developed so much through participating in the show, both in their confidence and in musical theatre skills.”

But it’s not all about the kids, as the brightest stars of EROS take up the adult roles — including Pamela Marshall, a Belmont House School teacher, playing the poor, ill-fated Nancy.

So what are you waiting for? Grab a ticket, take a seat — and consider yourself at home in Eastwood Park.

Oliver! runs May 12-17, 7.30pm (plus 2.30pm Sat mat). Tickets are £15 from 577 4956 or eastwoodparktheatre.co.uk/boxoffice.
