Declan strikes the right chord

ST Patrick’s day is upon us and what better way to celebrated than with legendary Irish singer songwriter Declan Sinnott.

Probably better known for his thirty year association with Christy Moore, the singer was also a founding member of groundbreaking Celtic rock bands Horslips and Moving Hearts.

He spent thirteen years directing and producing the work of both Frances and her sister Mary Black with whom he toured the world during their six album collaboration.

Still working and touring with Christy Moore , Declan has at last found time to put out his very first solo album of mostly original material by himself and Owen O’Brien called I Love The Noise It Makes ( John Lennon’s answer when asked what he likes most about music).

Released last year , songs from the album will form the main body of his live set on this current tour which brings him to the Southside Festival’s first gig of the year in association with the Glad Cafe in Shawlands on Saturday .

With support from mainstay of the southside music scene Crawford Smith, Declan will entertain fans in an intimate setting from 8pm.

Tickets are £10 from www.tickets-scotland.com , 204 5151 or from The Glad Cafe itself.
