Eastwood dances across the globe

Tarang Dance Academy is the new classical dance group behind the show, fresh from a performance at the Merchant Square Commonwealth Celebrations earlier this year, as funded by the Big Lottery Fund.

The aim of the game is to bring classical Indian dance — namely, a traditional style called Kathak — to the Scottish masses, with Tarang planning to host workshops, as well as appearing at big scale events to show off their many talents.

But Sunday’s performance has influences from all over the world, with Highland, tap and Thai dancing presented for your entertainment, courtesy of Glasgow’s wider dancing community.

Tarang Dance Academy’s Sudakshina Kundu told The Extra: “This first event will be an endeavour to take forward our mission to promote community harmony through dance, and get all in Scotland dancing.

“Dance plays an important part for the wellbeing of our society.”

For dance fans who didn’t catch the Commonwealth performance during the summer, Eastwood Park may just be the place to be this weekend — get ready for those toes to 
tap.

Clyde Utsav starts at 7pm and tickets are £10 (£5 children, £25 for a family ticket) with some of the proceeds going to charity.
