ERGC delivers practical help to people in need, providing anything from wheelchairs to washing machines, cookers or even computers. It has helped hundreds across the district, and is supported by businesses and many individuals.

The Redhurst night raised more than £1500 – to which was added a further £500 from various other activities.

The money is already being put to good use, since ERGC promptly stepped in to help members of a family who have visual impairments.

They were provided with an iPad specially adapted to include features and apps designed to assist people with sight difficulties.

Redhurst general manager Lesley Smith said: “Many of our regular customers are local and they’ve got behind us to support what we are doing. We’re delighted to help Russell Macmillan with the great work he does”.

Meanwhile Russell thanked Asda customers who voted for his cause. Thousands of shoppers helped ERGC win the three-monthly green token charity cash fund, which means it gets a £500 donation.
