Gladrags at the ready for lady’s night

HOMEGROWN talent returns to Eastwood Park — by way of the Tron — this week with I Will Survive.

It’s the latest show from InsideOut Productions, run by Giffnock-born Paul Harper-Swan.

A regular in The Extra’s entertainment pages, former St Ninian’s pupil Paul is responsible for the Tron’s A Song, a Sip and a Sandwich nights, as well as a host of theatre and cabaret performances.

InsideOut is bringing home I Will Survive — a show billed as the ultimate girls night out, with songs from the 70s up to present day, ranging from Gloria Gaynor and Aretha Franklin to the Spice Girls.

The girls are rallying around one poor lass who’s just suffered a break up — and proving that good friends and good tunes are all you need to survive relationship blues.

Paul told The Extra: “It stars Donna Hazelton from Channel 4’s Musicality, and the cast also includes Lauren Ellis Steele, Lee Reynolds and Alison Rona Cleland.

“The show has been described as Sex and the City the musical, and it’s full of laughter — it sold out at the Tron at the end of September, and had the audiences dancing in the aisles.”

The director added: “It’s always lovely to come back to my home town, Giffnock, with a show.”

So there you have it — get your glad rags on for tomorrow (Saturday), as I Will Survive is on at Eastwood Park Theatre from 7.30pm.

Tickets are £9-£13, available from 577 4956 or www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/boxoffice.
