Glasgow makes a show of itself

The annual Glasgow Show returns, promising live music, extreme sports, dance, street theatre, countryside activities and funfair rides galore.

The fun kicks off at George Square on tomorrow (Saturday) morning, with the Glasgow Show parade — vintage buses, dancers, horse and dray and pipe bands, to name a few sights — leaving at 11.30am.

Arrival at the park, at noon, marks the official opening of the show, and from there it’s a series of death-defying stunts at the main arena from the White Helmets motorcycle stunt team, the Tigers parachute display team and Blazing Saddles horse stunt riders.

Over in the music zone, there’s a wealth of acts lined up — including East Renfrewshire’s own answer to One Direction, Supanova.

X Factor finalists Amelia Lily and Rylan are topping the the bill, joined by The Parades, Waterfront and Abba Fever.

There’s a dedicated children’s zone complete with inflatable village and cartoon characters.

And there’s a chance to walk on the wild side over in countryside, with birds of prey demonstrations, highland cattle, horse rides and a children’s farm.

The Glasgow Show runs Saturday and Sunday, and tickets are £6 for adults, £3 for kids (£2 for Kids Card and Young Scot holders), or £15 for a family ticket.
