Brenda Young, owner of the Village Cafe in Bishopbriggs, had previously organised fundraisers for Gayle McElhinney and her son Kane, who both contracted cancer.

Cash raised helped send Kane to Germany for treatment, but he died in 2013. Gayle passed away last year at the age of 35.
