It’s more than just the Games

Part of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Cultural Programme, 3, 6 & 36 is a play about one family’s experience of the Commonwealth Games arriving on their doorstep.

Told through stories, puppets, dancing and silliness, it explores the perspectives of three family members: Sarah (aged 36), Benjamin (6) and Oliver (3).

Created by Sarah Longfield, former artistic director of Toonspeak Theatre Company, and her family, 3, 6 & 36 is aimed at anyone, of any age, who wants to come and share their stories.

Sarah said: “Most of it will be true but some of it might have to be made up along the way, mainly because of that old theatrical adage: ‘never work with children or animals.’”

Meantime, plans are afoot for a one-off guided tour through the unseen backstage areas of the Citizens Theatre’s historic Victorian building, later this month.

Follow in the footsteps of great actors, directors and the theatre’s creative team and hear about the vibrant history of Glasgow’s iconic Gorbals home and working building, whilst exploring backstage areas including the wardrobe store, Victorian paint frame, carpentry workshop and even understage.

The Citz advise booking a tour in advance for the hour-long tour as there are only 20 places.
