Jammin’ for Oxfam

Oxjam Glasgow Takeover Festival returns for 2014, with 30 plus bands across four venues in Sauchiehall Street, at the heart of Glasgow’s flourishing live music scene.

One low cost wristband gets you access to an entire day featuring the best in unsigned music, championing local talent, whilst raising vital funds for Oxfam.

A spokesman said: “Every penny raised from the takeover will go direct to Oxfam to help fight poverty and social inequality.”

Oxjam will also be showcasing live art installations.

The Cut Throat Razors are capitalizing on recent successes, having been named Sunday Herald Best Unsigned Band.

The crew also secured a slot at Oxjam for the one-day-all-day music marathon. These guys are definitely one to watch, especially their live stage shows.

Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5 are deliberately difficult to typecast. This eclectic bunch are an alternative-comedy-dance-rock act from Glasgow who specialise in tongue-in-cheek social commentary.

The band has been described as a Dean Martin and Kenny Rogers hybrid with the DNA of Bob Marley and Neil Diamond, according to one recent Wickerman fest review.

They are a truly family-friendly band and well-worth following to keep up with their gig dates.

Among other bands on the gig list are One Last Secret; Lo Bird; Ape Man Alien; and Anton and the Colts.

So, get your gig t-shirts out on Saturday, October 18, from 2pm til midnight.

Tickets are £10+fee from wegottickets.com/oxjam and the wristband secures entry to The Griffin, Box, O’Neills and Broadcast on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.
