Love on the dancefloor bloomed at the Barras

The people’s love affair with all things Barrowland continues with moments in its history enshrined in art installations, oral histories, iconic photographic collections, songs and poetry and trips down memory lane.

There’s even a book that charts the gig history of the Ballroom since its ‘phoenic rising’ resurrection as a concert venue in 1985 when the band Simple Minds kicked things off with a video for their Waterfront album.

This weekend, A Blether and a Bop returns to The Shed, remembering the place where couples met on the dancefloor and fell in love — often prompted by the now iconic line Are ye dancin’?

Catch the latest tribute (and try to get a hold of the poster for this gig by Adrian McMurchie) on Fri-Sat, 7.30pm and Sun 3pm. £8.
