Murder and scandal at Eastwood Park

GIFFNOCK Theatre Players are breathing new life into a 1975 radio drama — and there’s plenty of murder and intrigue to play with.

The am dram group presents Cause Célèbre by Terence Rattigan, inspired by the 1930s trial of Alma Rattenbury and her teen lover, for the murder of her husband.

Cause Célèbre follows the action from a distance, detailing its effect on morally upright forewoman of the jury, Edith Davenport, and her changing attitude towards the morally relaxed Alma.

The play was first broadcast on BBC radio, but has since made it to the stage — and now it’s at Eastwood Park, offering up all the scandal that so delighted the papers back at the Old Bailey.

Catch the courtroom drama Jan 22-25. Tickets £10-£12 from 876 1296 or www.eastwoodparktheatre.co.uk.
