Pic of the Week: Out of Gas by Keith Beard

I have tried to capture the concept of the passage of time by splicing two images together.

There seem to be no scrap yards in the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York, so people just drive old cars into the undergrowth and leave them there.

I liked the idea that all things eventually return to nature, even rusting cars.

The old pump was shot nearby at a fuel oil and petrol dealer that has been in business for 80 years.

Both images were taken with a Canon 50D, and the main image exposure was 1/50 sec at f5.6 and ISO 400.

Pic of the Week is in association with Eastwood Photographic Society — photography for all.
