Pic of the Week: Portnahaven Sunset by Mel Leiper

My wife and I have at least one holiday a year on Islay and visit in the winter months when the lighting is at its best and the island is free from holiday visitors (nearly)!

Portnahaven is on the west coast of the island and there is nothing beyond the lighthouse until you reach America.

It is a very exposed corner and all the cottages are well cared for so it is quite a photogenic spot in the right conditions.

Taken on a canon 7D using a 17-40 L lens @ F11 and 1/40th of a second at ISO 100. The sun was literally sitting on the horizon which gave a colour and dimension to the village.
