Pic of the Week: The Big Dismount by Ross Eaglesham

Taken at the Hydro during the Commonwealth Games I shot 23 frames in a row of the final dismount for this gymnast and chose 11 of them to layer together in Photoshop.

Using layer masks I revealed each frame from below the previous one to bring every frame onto the same image.

I then used various shapes of radial blur on a new layer to create the “spinning movement” in-between each of the stages.

Taken with a Canon 1Dx and 17-40mm lens. Settings were f5, 1/1250th sec and ISO 3200.
