Pipes, drums and local food galore

Glasgow is on the international stage again this week (August 15-16) for the World Pipe Band Championships.

The biggest pipe band competition in the world is held each year at Glasgow Green, drawing competitors from across the globe.

There’s plenty on offer for spectators too, as the event celebrates all things Scottish, from Highland dancing to the Glasgow World Highland Games Championships.

This year’s events also include the Albannach Food and Drink Festival, running on Saturday and showcasing the best in Scottish produce.

Entry to all is included in the ticket (£12 for adults, £7 for children, U5s free), available from www.theworlds.co.uk — and get ready to work off all that homegrown grub with a wee jig or two.
