Restaurant Review: Italian restaurant that’s just the job

It is very rare that I go out for an Italian meal — in fact, I can’t remember the last time I did.

Having grown up on a diet rarely venturing outside the parameters of pizza and pasta, one day, I reached my limit.

Now when I go out for dinner, it’s Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese, or any of the other number of cuisines my picky taste buds disregarded in my youth.

However, after one meal at La Parmagiana, I am back off the wagon.

For my starter, I chose a venison tagliatelle — and although it has been a while since I dined out on pasta, I don’t remember it tasting like this.

As I type this a whole day later, I find myself wishing I could have just one more taste. You truly taste the difference in this pasta, which is made on the premises, and the gamey, meaty sauce well and truly knocks the dish out the park.

If I had that on offer every day, barely a lunch or dinner would go by that I wouldn’t have it — it was that good.

A shellfish bouillabaisse for my main was just as spectacular; every type of shellfish you could imagine, and some you couldn’t, all fresh and delicious.

When you eat a meal like that, you should not dwell on the bread, but the homemade bread was outstanding and on its own, could single-handedly convert me back to eating white rather than brown.

For dessert, as I was filled to the brim, I chose a dish which came with an advisory notice of a 20 minute wait.

The chocolate fondant with vanilla bean ice cream was worth that wait, and I would highly reccomend that to anybody, truly the perfect end to a perfect meal.

Many restaurants in Glasgow charge high prices for a mediocre experience — this is not one of them.

The whole experience is deserving of a special occasion and if you do decide to splash out once in a while, La Parmigiana is the place to do it.
