The Cryptic-run fest runs October 29 — November 8 at venues across Glasgow, with Govanhill Baths and other southside attractions taking centre stage for some of 18 world and UK premieres.

The aim is to venture beyond conventional performance spaces to new and unusual places — and the historic Baths has been chosen for three installations, including a large-scale kinetic sculpture by renowned Indonesian artist Jompet Kuswidananto.

Artists Alex Menzies and Florence To — a.k.a CØV — present another world premiere at the Baths with Etanan, exploring psychological associations of music and light (entry £5) and Cryptic associate Robbie Thomson presents The New Alps, an installation of mechanical sculptures showing a futuristic and robotic landscape.

Elsewhere, the Glasgow Science Centre tower will provide performance space for the Maxwell String Quartet and Dunedin Consort, and there’s more to see at Tramway and Bakery47, as well as venues in the city centre, Duke Street and north of Glasgow.
