Robert Robson was most recently employed as artistic director of the Lowry Theatre in Salford. He suffered a heart attack and died on Friday, September 6. His career saw him work at Cumbernauld Theatre as well as directing the Glasgow arts festival Mayfest, and he also worked at venues in Aberdeen and across Scotland.

Ed Robson said: “It was with sadness that I learnt of the passing of Robert Robson, previous Artistic Director of Cumbernauld Theatre. I was fortunate enough to meet Robert, and he was a man of great generosity and knowledge who remembered his time at Cumbernauld Theatre with great fondness. It is not exaggeration to say that Robert, alongside David Taylor (now Portfolio Manager at Creative Scotland) together made Cumbernauld Theatre a powerhouse in the arts. His passing will be missed by many in Scottish arts.”
