Water challenge for mum and daughter

A mother and daughter team are attempting their most challenging event '“ all in aid of Maggie's Glasgow.

Trisha Harvey, and are daughter Rachel Hughes are attempting to become the first Mother and Daughter relay time to swim the North Channel when they take to the seas sometime between July 2-7, weather permitting.

Trisha, a former British Ironman Champion and Scottish 100 mile time trial champion, and Rachel, the former Scottish and British Youth Triathlon Champion and Oxford University Sportswoman of the year, have a good pedigree in endurance sports

The North Channel swim is an 21miles (35 km) crossing from Ireland (Donaghadee) to Scotland (Port Patrick), and it is considered by many to be the hardest open water swim channel crossing in the world.

Trisha said: “I know Maggie’s provide a calm, non-judgemental, helpful place to visit for cancer sufferers and their families and a fantastic service to sufferers and their families.

“My sister, Roslyn, died aged 45 from cancer and I want dedicate this swim to my wonderful sister”.
