ESCAPE reality just for a while. Escape rooms are designed for groups of 2-6 people. With 60 minutes on the clock, you and your team have to solve the puzzles, riddles and brain teasers to make your escape. The goal is simple – get out in time. WALLED Garden Tour, Rouken Glen Park. 1 - 2 pm. Come along and find out how the walled garden re-development is progressing. Works include rebuilding shrub and flower beds, laying new accessible paths, fixing the walls, creating interpretation areas and planting thousands of new plants and trees. WEDNESDAY, SEPT 2

CRAFTY thinking. The ‘Just Crafts’ group is aimed at over 50’s (but not exclusively) craft enthusiasts who enjoy making home-made jewellery, designing their own greeting cards and socialising with like-minded people. It’s a chance for people to come together, share their creativity and have a cuppa and a chat at the same time. We hold craft get-togethers every second Wednesdays from 10am-noon at Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire in Barrhead. Everyone is invited to bring along their own ideas (possibly materials) and get creative. The group is run by the HUB volunteers who ensure that everyone feels welcomed. Refreshments, for a donation, are provided.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 3

BARRHEAD Artists was formed in 1993. We meet every Thursday evening in the Auchenback Resource Centre, 64 Aurs Drive between 6.30 and 9.30pm from September to June. Our annual exhibition is held in June. Our philosophy is that art is for everyone and although not a teaching club we are open to beginners. Club members are willing to share their knowledge and expertise freely. A programme of events that runs throughout the session includes workshops, still life evenings and outings to local beauty spots for drawing and painting. Well-known professional artists such as Philip Raskin have given demonstrations of their skill and techniques. New members are welcome. Our annual fee is £45.

BENEATH our feet, Glasgow Central railway station is the largest of the two present main-line railway terminals in Glasgow. The station was opened by the Caledonian Railway on 31 July 1879. The station is steeped in history with amazing architecture, incredible underground tunnels, catacombs and has a fantastic glass roof consisting of 48,000 individual panes of glass.
