SATURDAY NOVEMBER 21

ORCHARDHILL Christmas market is open, offering gift ideas and plenty of festive cheer to put you in the Christmas mood. 1-4pm at the parish church. Entry costs £2.50 for adults, £1 for children and includes free tea and coffee.

TABLE top sale and festive fair at St Aiden’s Church, Clarkston. Lots of crafters and bargains to be had 2-4pm, with all proceeds going to Help for Heroes.

CHRISTMAS comes to Clarkston with the I Love Clarkston Winter Wonderland. 12-5pm at Clarkston Hall for stilt walkers, magicians, food, Santa’s grotto and funfair rides. Free to join.

CELEBRATION of craft at Holmwood House. Craft Scotland are stepping in with luxury items ideal for Christmas gifts. Free entry, and the tearoom will be serving coffee and cake throughout. 11am-3pm.

SHOPPING ahoy at The Jam Cheerleaders’ annual Christmas fair. 12.30pm-3.30pm at Carmichael Hall, Giffnock. Entry £3/£2/£1.

MONDAY NOVEMBER 23

WILDLIFE cameraman Doug Allan talks about his life and career at Clarkston Hall. A Walk on the Wild Side runs 7-8pm and tickets are available via www.eastwoodparktheatre.co.uk.

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 24

HOLIDAYS are coming - and the arrival of the Coca Cola Christmas truck proves it. The iconic truck rolls into Silverburn today, noon-8pm for festive revellers to have their picture taken with it.

EASTWOOD Entertainers present Cinderella as the group’s 40th anniversary pantomime. Runs until November 28, 7.30pm each evening with a 2.30pm Sat mat. Tickets £10-£12 from 577 4956.

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 26

DELVE into the dark side with crime writing duo Craig Robertson and Michael Malone, appearing at Mearns Library from 7.30pm as part of Book Week Scotland. Free event but ticketed - call 577 4970 for more info.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 27

FAMILY film night at Mearns Primary, screening Elf to kickstart the Christmas season. Doors open at 7pm and movie begins 7.30pm. Tickets are £3 each, or £10 for a family ticket. Event is in aid of Lasallian Developing World Projects, fundraising for one local’s trip to Thailand to build an access road to allow more children to attend school. Pizza, popcorn and more available on the night.

GIFFNOCK-based charity Friends of Mbwa Wa Africa Animal Rescue host a fundraiser with a difference - an AfroCeilidh. 7.30pm start at the African Art Centre in Ibrox, with Chief Amu Logoste joining forces with the Broomhill Ceilidh Band. CEILIDH fun at St Ninian’s High. Annual event is on 7.30-11pm and entry is £3 per person, or £10 for a family ticket - tickets available from the school office. All proceeds go to supporting extra-curricular activities.
