COMEDIAN Des McLean hits the road for a stand up tour, taking in Eastwood Park Theatre tonight, 7.30pm. The man famous for playing Tommy Sheridan in I Tommy has toured the US, New Zealand, Australia and Canada - catch him for £14/£12 conc/£10 student, with tickets from 577 4956.

COMEDY troupe The Greater Shawlands Republic - campaigning for an independent Shawlands - are fundraising for the Southside and East Ren Green groups. The GSR present Stand up for the Greens at The Rum Shack, 8-10.30pm, and tickets are £10 plus booking fee. Line up includes Bruce Morton, Viv Gee, Ally Houston, Elaine Malcolmson and Andrew Learmonth as MC.

ANNUAL bulb fair, garden walk and house opening at Greenbank Garden - celebrating Scotland’s Gardens Scheme. 11am-5pm today and tomorrow - ticket price is included in the cost of admission to the house.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 20

FIND out the industrial history of Dams to Darnley Country Park on a ranger-led walk. The countryside rangers will be delving into the past on the free family walk – and you can even find out what everyday item was invented in the park. 1-3.30pm. CLASSIC Cinema at the Burrell Collection. Catch a free film for grown ups in the 180 seat lecture theatre from 2pm. September’s movie follows Gerard Butler and his Spartan warrios in a fight against the Persian army - an epic with comic book origins from 2007. Call 287 2550 for more info.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21

COME dancing. Shawlands Academy on Monday evenings from 7.30-9.15. We are hoping to attract many new dancers. If you would like a bit of fun, fitness and friendship, come along to a beginners class in Scottish Country Dancing. You will be taught by a teacher from the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, accompanied by live accordian music. GLASGOW-born star Lisa McHugh takes to the Eastwood Park stage. Inspired by the music of Daniel O’Donnell and her Irish parents, Lisa took part in Irish music talent show Glor Tire before moving to the country. With 15 awards under her belt, she has plenty to sing about these days - catch her from 8pm, tickets £20.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25

JOIN Patsy Cline and Friends for a trip down memory lane. The tribute show is on at Eastwood Park, with homages to the record breaking artist herself, and to the likes of Hank Williams and Jim Reeves. 7.30pm show and tickets are £16/£15, available from 577 4956.
