Window to the Past: Cathcart Castle
THIS week’s picture is of Cathcart Castle and though the image comes from the 60s, the history of the castle stretches back much further.

The lands had belonged to the Cathcart family since the 12th century and it is believed that the castle was built sometime in the 15th century.
By the 18th century, the castle was abandoned and the ruins were eventually pulled down in 1980, leaving only the foundations.
The site is now a scheduled ancient monument.
