Window to the Past: Gorbals Street

If you look hard enough you will see the Citizens Theatre in all its former glory.

It is, of course, Gorbals Street (looking north) and by the style of cars this picture was probably taken around the 70s.

Next door to the Citz was The Palace, or The Close Theatre Club, which was a smallish venue with a capacity of 152.

This theatre was however short-lived — it opened in 1965 and was destroyed by fire in 1973.
