Scotland has produced many fine albums of the years and although we may be bias with some of our Glasgow favourites you just can’t ignore outstanding pieces of work.
We asked our readers what their favourite Scottish albums of all time were, resulting in hundreds of suggestions across genres, regions and eras.
There are no duplicates featured in the list meaning that no band has more than one album but musicians like Bobby Gillespie, Gerry Rafferty and others do feature on more than one album.
Here are 40 of the finest albums which Scotland has produced.

5. City to City - Gerry Rafferty
Plenty of our readers got back to us suggesting Gerry Rafferty with it being a hard choice between City to City and Night Owl. Both are utterly outstanding albums but City to City just edged Night Owl. | Supplied

6. Raintown - Deacon Blue
Featuring an image of the West End from Oscar Marzaroli as the album cover, Raintown is very much an album about Glasgow and arguably Deacon Blue’s finest piece of work. The title track was inspired by Ricky Ross’ walks to work at St Columba’s school in Maryhill. | Deacon Blue

7. Bandwagonesque - Teenage Fanclub
Teenage Fanclub were formed in Bellshill near Glasgow but emerged from the Glasgow C86 scene along with bands such as The Pastels and Primal Scream. Bandwagonesque contains tracks such as "What You Do to Me" and "Star Sign". Grand Prix is another fantastic album from the band. | Teenage Fanclub

8. Next - The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Next only includes seven songs and kicks off with The Faith Healer. The album was released in 1973 which was the same year the band made their debut at Glasgow's Apollo as the support for Mott the Hoople. The album was featured in Robert Dimery's book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. | Supplied
