Bishopbriggs restaurant granted permission for off-sales due to covid

Two businesses in Bishopbiggs have been given permission to change their alcohol sales practices due to the impact of coronavirus.

The local Morrisons supermarket and Italian restaurant La Vita both applied for permission to alter their alcohol licenses due to changes which have come about since lockdown was first imposed.

Morrisons was formally granted permission to provide alcohol to customers via delivery or Click and Collect. Challenge 25 procedures are in place with drivers given the same training as in-store staff. Should the customer be unable to verify their age on request, the alcohol will be removed from their order.

La Vita requested permission to carry out off sales, specifically to allow customers to include wine in their food orders for collection or delivery, with several people still reluctant to eat in the premises, although customers dining on-site will also gain the option of taking unfinished bottles home with them.

No objections to either application were raised by the board’s consultative partners and the board agreed unanimously to grant these requests.
