CALA plans to build 256 new homes at Fauldhead at Kirkintilloch

The proposals would deliver 256 new homes, including 67 affordable homes, and according to CALA, would create a vibrant new community with dramatic views of the Campsie Fells to the north of Glasgow.

House types planned by CALA, range from terraced homes suitable for later living, to larger semi-detached and detached villas designed for families.

According to CALA, “significant effort has been placed on incorporating green space at the site, which is close to the Luggie Water burn.”

A spokesperson for the firm said: “Many of the existing landscape features including trees and a natural pond will be retained to support the site’s wildlife, with a new wetland also being created.

"The plans additionally include a play area that will create a new recreational facility for local families and support health and wellbeing.”

The firm said the site at Fauldhead is allocated for housing in the Local Development Plan and is also included in the Draft Local Development Plan 2, set to be launched in 2022.

If the plans are approved, the affordable housing will be owned and managed by local social landlord Hillhead Housing Association.
