House prices in East Renfrewshire continue to rise

The ​significant boost ​contributes to the longer-term trend, which has seen property prices in the area ​achieve 4.1 per cent annual growth​.

The average East Renfrewshire house price in March was £232,220, according to Registers of Scotland figures​ – a 6.5 per cent increase on February.

Over the month, the picture was ​better than that across Scotland, where prices ​increased just 0.4 per cent​, and East Renfrewshire outperformed the 0.2 per cent drop for the UK as a whole.

Over the last year, the average sale price of property in East Renfrewshire ​​rose by £9,200 – putting the ​area eighth among Scotland’s 32 local authorities for annual growth.

​The best annual growth in Scotland was in the Scottish Borders, where properties increased on average by 12.3 per cent to £163,000. ​At the other end of the scale, properties in Orkney Islands dropped 6.0 per cent in value, giving an average price of £131,000.

Buyers paid 52.9 per cent more than the average price in Scotland (£152,000) in March for a property in East Renfrewshire.
