Joy as Cumbernauld and Kirkintilloch garden centres get ready to re-open

Caulders garden centres in both Cumbernauld and Kilsyth will be throwing open their doors tomorrow (Friday) after lockdown measures which stopped them trading finally come to an end.

Managing director Colin Barrie said:”We are now fully stocked with thousands of plants!

“A visit to the garden centre will be quite different for a while. There will be no coffee shop, and restricted numbers allowed in to the centre at any one time.

“The most important thing will be the safety of our staff and the safety of our amazing customers!

“We will have sanitising stations, two metre distancing in place.

“However we still want it to be an enjoyable experience!

“Gardening is so important for mental wellbeing in times like this, and we are aware of just how many people have spent time in their gardens throughout this very difficult period.

“Although our centres will be open again, we are continuing with our home delivery webshop which takes orders each Saturday and Sunday, with these being delivered out as early as possible the following week.

“This service has proved to be well used and valuable for people who are shielding, isolating, key workers or people who just don’t feel safe venturing too far at the moment.”

There will also be another significant milestone come Monday (June 1) when amenity tips and recycling centres re-open, including the one at Wardpark.

It is hoped that the move will reduce flytipping - and social distancing measures will be put into place within these centres.
