Local businesses in Food Awards final

Nine local businesses have made it through to the finals ofthis year's Food Awards Scotland.

Accolades will be presented to the best restaurants, takeaways, pubs, hotel restaurants, cafes and bistros, as well as to those who help us to explore new flavours and cuisines from different cultures.

The list with finalists has now been compiled based on the tremendous number of nominations received from the public.

The nominees are:

Restaurant of the Year – Battlefield Rest

Cafe/Bistro of the Year – Cafe Strange Brew

Gastro Pub of the Year – The Butterfly and The Pig

Best Italian Establishment – Nonna Ginas

Best World Cuisine – Buddy’s Diner & Takeaway

Best Street Food– Kurdish Street Food

Fresh Produce Provider of the Year – Strawberry Garden

Seafood Supplier of the Year – Alan Beveridge

Wholesaler of the Year – United Wholesale Grocers

A spokesman for the Food Awards Scotland said: “We have received a tremendous amount of nominations from the Scottish public and it is your clients that have gone behind the nomination process to vote for their favourite establishments.

“With really tough competition this year, we are looking forward to welcoming the meritorious representatives that operate in the food industry, who provide and supply us with great gastronomic delights and enhance the reputation of the country.

The spokesman added: “We would like to wish all the finalists the best of luck.”

The black tie event will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow on Monday, August 20.
