The firm is pledging to offer support to appropriate neighbourhood projects, charities, and one-off events in the area, as the Retirement Living development in Pollokshields, aimed exclusively at the over 60s, continues to become part of its local community.
With community right at the heart of McCarthy and Stone, the company is interested to hear from local causes, which require support in the form of donations; and while it cannot guarantee funding in every case, it has vowed to help at least three organisations in the Glasgow Southside area.
Lorraine Paterson, regional sales and marketing director at McCarthy and Stone in Scotland, said: “As Merchants Gate has now become part of the local landscape in Pollokshields, it is part of our ongoing commitment to help build a positive legacy in the local community.
“Therefore, it is fantastic to be able to offer to help causes, be it individuals or groups that are close to locals’ hearts in the south side of Glasgow.
“We’re really looking forward to hearing from a range of local charities and initiatives that could use our help and support.”
Currently under construction, Merchants Gate will comprise of 56 one and two-bedroom Retirement Living apartments, exclusively designed for those aged 60 and over.
Situated on Springkell Avenue, the first homeowners are expected to be welcomed into their new apartments in autumn/winter 2019.
Entrants from community groups and local charities are urged to get in touch as soon as possible.
They should outline the details of their project or charity and explain how a donation from McCarthy and Stone would assist them.
There is a total fund of £1,000 available.
Please send email entry to [email protected] and mark as ‘Glasgow Southside Community Charity Appeal – 2019’ in the subject header. Closing date for entries is May 24.
