Milngavie shop described as ‘a true local hero’ during coronavirus crisis

A fish shop in Milngavie has been praised for going the extra mile for local customers during the current national crisis.

Fantoosh Fish in the
precinct has been nominated as a “true local hero” by resident Maureen Renfrew.

She said: “As you walk through Milngavie his shop is like a shining beacon in the gloom. He always has a warm welcome and big smile for his customers and more importantly ‘passes the time of day’ with them.

“This is very important to people, like me, who live alone and the only physical interaction we have with another human being is when we venture out for our weekly shop. He does this while keeping to the regulations re social distancing, etc. A true local hero.

She added: “Whilst staying open to supply his usual fish he has continued to source eggs, freshly baked bread and fruit and vegetables .

“He has also sourced pasta, pizza, flour, milk, loo rolls and ice cream, plus various other items.

“ Whilst continuing to provide for his regular customers, he has also helped to provide other local businesses with an outlet for their goods.”
