New homes on site of former St Agatha’s Primary School at Kirkintilloch

Twelve new homes are being built on the site of a former primary school at Kirkintilloch.

Panacea Homes are behind “The Primary” development of six luxury homes converted in the original St Agatha’s sandstone school building and six new family homes set in the former playground.

One of the new homes will be situated in the former head master’s house and the firm says it offers panoramic views of the Campsies and beyond.

The former gym hall will be transformed into a three-bedroom home where original features will be retained, the most striking being the exposed rafters on the vaulted ceiling, creating a first floor living space.

Former classrooms in the old school house will be converted to provide a mix of two and three-bedroom properties, with each of the school house homes offering private gardens or terraces and allocated parking spaces.

The former playground area will see a further six luxury family homes created, including four three-bedroom semi-detached homes, alongside a three-bedroom detached property and a four-bedroom detached home featuring an integrated garage.

Ross McMillan, Head of Operations at Panacea Homes, said: “The homes at The Primary development will be truly unique and finished to a very high standard, so we expect demand to be high. The style and quality of the homes offer families the space they need in a beautiful setting, and with excellent transport links to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling, so I would encourage interested buyers to register their interest without delay.”

The firm said all properties at The Primary have been designed exclusively in a way that respects the traditional styling of the former school, each with an interior specification commensurate with the top-end appeal of the development.

The first homes are expected to be ready to move in to by early 2021.
